Actaea, formerly Cimicifuga, are tall woodland plants that have large, attractive divided foliage. They're ideally suited as a backdrop in the shady flower border. Plant in fertile, moist, highly organic and somewhat acidic soil. Avoid locations with hot afternoon sun.
