(P.P.18828) ('WP05 YUES') Lacy white with red centers. The "Scent First" series of border pinks are known for their spicy fragrance, compact habit, large 1.5 inch flowers and long season of bloom. They form low cushions of grassy, grey-blue foliage topped with double flowers that look like little double carnations. Coconut Surprise is a shorter selection, making it excellent for compact containers and for low borders. Naturally compact and free-flowering. Butterflies adore them. Plants should be trimmed lightly after blooming to maintain their tight, compact mound of evergreen foliage and to encourage continuous flower set. The flower petals of all types of Dianthus are edible. This series bred by Whetman Pinks, Ltd., UK, was the recipient of the Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit.
